Mount Takao stands at an altitude of 599m.
While not a particularly high mountain, the observatory offers stunning views of Mt. Fuji and the Tanzawa Mountains.
There is a flat square at the summit, which draws large crowds of hikers during weekends and peak seasons.
In the center of the summit square is the "Takao Visitor Center," which provides information about the nature around Mount Takao.
There are also several teahouses where you can enjoy soba, oden, shaved ice, and beer, either dining in or taking out.
Two modern restroom facilities are available at the summit to accommodate the many visitors.
The observatory, located at the edge of the summit, remains the most popular spot.
If you want to see Mt. Fuji, we recommend visiting in the morning when the air is clear.

Peak Season Crowds
During Golden Week and the autumn foliage season, it becomes so crowded that it can be difficult to find a spot for lunch.

A new sign installed in 2015. It is a popular spot for commemorative photos.
Photo Line
During peak seasons, lines often form for people waiting to take photos with the summit sign.
Second-order Triangulation Point
A triangulation point located near the sign, in front of the Oomiharashi-tei teahouse.
Rest Area
There are also covered rest areas available.
Area Beside the Observatory
There are benches in the area descending from beside the observatory where you can take a break.
Summit Teahouses
There are several teahouses at the summit where you can purchase food and drinks.
Visitor Center
The Takao Visitor Center was renovated in 2015. You can learn in detail about the nature of Mt. Takao.
Summit Restrooms
Located next to the Visitor Center, these facilities are very clean and modern.
